Westside Highway Lookbook (new)

Show Up.
Make It Work.
Real people. Real game. Real place.
No script. Barely a camera.
Late September — West Side Highway, NYC
The Courts
Same Courts.
Same Energy.
In late summer and early fall, I play basketball on the West Side Highway. It's a routine. That's where I met Manny and Nick. We didn't know each other outside the game. We just kept showing up.
The Shoot
The Night
Everything Lined Up.
Late September. Perfect weather — cool enough to run hard, warm enough to sweat. About 100 people on the courts, some playing, some watching, some just hanging around. The court had a pulse. It felt exactly like what we'd pictured. Natural. Alive. Unforced.

The Punchline
He Forgot
The Camera.
Christian walked up, looked around, and said "this is going to sound dumb." He thought I wanted him to be the model. So he didn't bring his camera.
Christian is terrible at basketball. We laughed very hard. Then we figured it out.
Those photos became our first shoot. That's Friendship Park.
That's a Wrap
